Estimada comunidad de Academia Oportunidad,
Es con gran alegría y gratitud que anunciamos la exitosa conclusión del tercer año escolar en el Centro Educacional Academia Oportunidad, el primer y único centro educativo en la República Dominicana dedicado a la educación de las altas capacidades y superdotación intelectual-académica.
Academia Oportunidad, un colegio privado auspiciado por el Instituto de Talentos y Prodigios, Inc. (INTALPRO), ha continuado marcando la diferencia en la vida de nuestros estudiantes con diferenciación curricular y nuestro innovador sistema asincrónico-dinámico. Queremos recordarles que todos nuestros estudiantes son becados, lo que significa que nuestros servicios educativos son completamente gratuitos, lo que hace que esta experiencia educativa sea accesible para todos.
Además, dejarles saber que el proceso de nominación para la evaluación e identificación de estudiantes para el año 2023 se llevará a cabo a mediados de noviembre 2023. Avisaremos fecha exacta próximamente. Este proceso está dirigido a estudiantes que han avanzado a 1ro de secundaria (antiguo 7mo). Los invitamos a visitar la sección "Home Page" de nuestro sitio web, donde encontrarán un formulario de evaluación (EVALUACIÓN 2023) para registrar a los estudiantes. ¡Pueden comenzar a inscribirse desde ahora!
Queremos informarles que, desafortunadamente, durante el año escolar 2023/2024, la escuela estará cerrada temporalmente. Esta pausa es necesaria para abordar asuntos relacionados con la infraestructura y la habilitación con el Ministerio de Educación (MINERD), especialmente en lo que respecta a nuestra singularidad pedagógica del uso de "multigrado" en secundaria (conocido como "grouping" en inglés). Estamos seguros de que estos esfuerzos mejorarán aún más la calidad de la educación que ofrecemos a nuestros estudiantes. Seguimos con nuestra misión: buscar, hallar, y educar-desarrollar a nuestras mejores mentes... la Rep. Dominicana y el mundo, las necesitan ya para enfrentar los complejos problemas sociales, tecnológicos y ambientales que nos agobian o se avistan en nuestro horizonte.
PROGRAMAS EDUCATIVOS:
Con la llegada abrupta y acceso fácil de la Inteligencia Artificial para los estudiantes, el Centro Academia Oportunidad ha hecho sustanciales ajustes a su currículo escolar y metodología educativa para optimizar y acelerar el aprendizaje:
Todos los estudiantes fueron instruidos y cuentan con acceso a ChatGPT, Bard y Claude para apoyar su aprendizaje.
Los profesores también recibieron instrucción sobre estas herramientas de IA y cuentan con acceso a ChatGPT para incorporarlo en sus planificaciones y uso en el aula.
Los estudiantes con orientación científico-tecnológica están involucrados en programas de Inteligencia Artificial y programación-algoritmos, utilizando Scratch del MIT y codificación con Python.
Se está implementando el diseño y uso de flashcards digitales para reforzar el aprendizaje.
En general, estas nuevas herramientas de IA se están utilizando como auxiliares disciplinarios en la metodología de aprender-cómo-aprender de Academia Oportunidad.
Con estos cambios, nuestro centro educativo se encuentra a la vanguardia en la optimización de los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje mediante la integración de las más recientes tecnologías de Inteligencia Artificial. Seguiremos innovando para proveer la mejor educación a nuestros talentosos estudiantes.
Nuestro contenido continúa impartiendo las clases y materias regulares de Ajedrez, Formación de Carácter-Etiqueta-Protocolo y Música. Todo ello aparte de las clases tradicionales de Deporte, Arte y Formación Humana y Religiosa.
Las temáticas de estas materias proveen la fundación y apoyo emocional que nuestros estudiantes necesitarán y emplearán en el desarrollo de sus habilidades especiales y de cara al futuro, para una sociedad que presenta muchas incógnitas y retos a cada mes que pasa.
El Ajedrez fomenta el pensamiento estratégico, la concentración y la paciencia. La Formación de Carácter-Etiqueta-Protocolo enseña valores, urbanidad y buenos modales. La Música estimula la creatividad, integra las emociones y desarrolla múltiples habilidades cognitivas.
Ajedrez
Es importante que durante el descubrimiento de sí mismo y su desarrollo individual la/el estudiante aprenda a tener una mente flexible en provecho del desarrollo de su inteligencia emocional. Tiene que disciplinarse para analizar las situaciones antes de tomar desiciones. Como dicen en inglés "think things through": considerar la situación cuidadosamente antes de tomar una desición y ser capaz de visualizar con cierta claridad los resultados que conlleva ejecutar la desición. Además, el Ajedrez es un juego muy divertido.
El profesor es el excampeón nacional el ingeniero Juan Manuel Jáquez.
Formación de Carácter/ Etiqueta y Protocolo
En Academia Oportunidad es nuestra meta y obligación mantenernos cerca de los estudiantes y sus familiares, por lo que la comunicación interpersonal es parte esencial en el ambiente escolar. También reconocemos que los estudiantes llegan a este centro con ciertos hábitos de estudios y actitudes que impactan el desarrollo de sus habilidades especiales; Trabajamos para que los estudiantes entiendan y visualicen cómo su actuar se proyecta al exterior de su persona y determinen si hay ajustes que hacer. Más que el éxito puramente académico, es prioridad de Academia Oportunidad la felicidad del estudiante y su cuido físico y mental.
La profesora es la ingeniera de sistema Miguelina Jáquez de Núñez (voluntaria).
Música
La creatividad es una parte crítica a tomar en cuenta al educar estudiantes con altas capacidades. La dinámica de cómo la creatividad opera en el desarrollo de las altas capacidades es compleja y no lineal. La música es un magnífico medio para llevar a cabo esta tarea de forma prácticamente inconciente (válvula de escape de presión y estrés). Desarrolla la memoria, ayuda en el desarrollo social (muy importante), y promueve la importancia desde temprana edad el trabajo en grupo y equipo cuando es parte de una banda musical.
El profesor es el licenciado Franklin De León, director de la academia y banda municipal de la ciudad de Bonao.

Dear Academia Oportunidad Community,
It is with great joy and gratitude that we announce the successful conclusion of the third school year at Centro Educacional Academia Oportunidad, the first and only educational center in the Dominican Republic dedicated to the education of high abilities and intellectual-academic giftedness.
Academia Oportunidad, a private school sponsored by the Dominican Foundation Instituto de Talentos y Prodigios, Inc. (INTALPRO), has continued to make a difference in the lives of our students with differentiated curriculum and our innovative asynchronous-dynamic system. We want to remind you that all our students receive scholarships, which means that our educational services are entirely free, making this educational experience accessible to all.
Additionally, we would like to inform you that the nomination process for student evaluation and identification for the year 2023 will take place in mid-November 2023. We will provide the exact date soon. This process is aimed at students who have advanced to the 1st year of high school (formerly 7th grade). We invite you to visit the "Home Page" section of our website, where you will find an evaluation form (EVALUACIÓN 2023) to register students. You can start registering now!
We also want to inform you that, unfortunately, during the school year 2023/2024, the school will be temporarily closed. This break is necessary to address issues related to infrastructure and compliance with the Ministry of Education (MINERD), especially regarding our pedagogical uniqueness in the use of "multigrade" in high school (known as "grouping" in English). EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
With the abrupt arrival and easy access to Artificial Intelligence for students, the Academia Oportunidad Center has made substantial adjustments to its school curriculum and educational methodology to optimize and accelerate learning:
All students were instructed and had access to ChatGPT, Bard, and Claude to support their learning.
Teachers also received instruction on these AI tools and have access to ChatGPT to incorporate it into their planning and classroom use.
Students with a science-technology orientation are involved in Artificial Intelligence and programming-algorithms programs, using MIT Scratch and Python coding.
The design and use of digital flashcards are being implemented to reinforce learning.
In general, these new AI tools are being used as disciplinary aids in Academia Oportunidad's learning-how-to-learn methodology.
With these changes, our educational center is at the forefront of optimizing teaching-learning processes through the integration of the most recent Artificial Intelligence technologies. We will continue to innovate to provide the best education for our talented students.
Our content continues teaching the regular classes and subjects of Chess, Character-Etiquette-Protocol Training, and Music. All of this apart from the traditional classes of Sports, Art, and Human and Religious Formation.
The themes of these subjects provide the foundation and emotional support that our students will need and use in developing their special abilities and in facing the future, in a society that presents many unknowns and challenges every month that goes by.
Chess fosters strategic thinking, concentration, and patience. Character-Etiquette-Protocol Training teaches values, civility, and good manners. Music stimulates creativity, integrates emotions, and develops multiple cognitive abilities.
We will continue innovating in these areas to deliver excellent education that brings out the best in each student, both intellectually and personally.

It is important that during self-discovery and individual development the student learns to have a flexible mind to benefit the development of their emotional intelligence. She has to discipline herself to analyze situations before making decisions. As they say in English "think things through": consider the situation carefully before making a decision and be able to visualize with some clarity the results of the decision.
Also, Chess is a very fun game.
The teacher is the former national champion, Juan Manuel Jáquez.
Character /Etiquette-Protocol
At Academia Oportunidad our goal and obligation are to stay close to students and their families, so interpersonal communication is an essential part of the school environment. We also recognize that students come to this center with certain study habits and attitudes that impact the development of their special abilities; We work so that students understand and visualize how their actions are projected to their outside world and determine if there are adjustments to be made. More than purely academic success, the student's happiness, physical and mental care are the priorities for Academia Oportunidad.
Miguelina Jáquez de Núñez is their teacher (volunteer).
Music
Creativity is a critical part to consider when educating gifted students. The dynamics of how creativity operates in the development of high abilities is complex and non-linear. Music is a great way to carry out this task in a practically unconscious way (pressure and stress relief valve). It develops memory, helps in social development (very important), and promotes the importance of group and teamwork from an early age when it is part of a musical band.
Franklin De León is the teacher. He is the director of the music academy and municipal band of the city of Bonao.
